GENERAL
What to do in case of a dispute?
After contacting The People’s customer service or the establishment for an amicable resolution, and in the event of an unfavorable response or no response within sixty (60) days following the filing of the complaint, one of the Hosts may bring the complaint before a mediator whose contact details are listed in Article 25 of the GTC.
Can I book a shared room with my minor child?
For the well-being and safety of all our guests, reservations and access to shared dormitories are prohibited to minors, even accompanied by a legal officer.
Can I access the hostel at any time and how?
Our hostels are accessible 24 hours a day, with your room card. Enjoy!
Can I park my car?
Our hostels are mainly located in the city center and generally do not have parking spaces. Nevertheless, don't hesitate to ask your hostel, on the dedicated page or via the contacts that can be found here: thepeoplehostel.com/contact.

Can I bring my bike?

What are the means of transportation near each hostel?
All of our hostels are easily accessible by public transportation. For information on how to get there, go to the dedicated page of your hostel.
Do I have to pay a tourist tax?
As in all tourist accommodations, a tourist tax is mandatory in our hostels The People, to be paid at the time of your reservation or upon your arrival. It is charged per person and per night, however the amount varies according to the destination. Its totality is transferred to the tourist office of the city to continue promoting the tourist development.

Can I smoke/vape in your hostels?
Our hostels have outdoor areas that are designed for smoking, and we are sure that you will be very comfortable there. We have even provided ashtrays to avoid leaving cigarette butts lying around... We like to take care of the planet.
Can I come with my dog?
Unfortunately not, even if you love animals. Only guide dogs are accepted.
Can I cancel my booking? What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation terms are linked to specific rates. If the rate you booked does not allow for changes or cancellation, you will not be able to ask for a refund. If the chosen rate allows cancellation, you can cancel your booking via your account on our website or by emailing your hostel. Can I leave my luggage even if I have already returned my room or bed?
We have designed a luggage storage service in all our hostels so that you can enjoy your stay until the end.
At what time should I check out my room or bed?
Rooms and beds must be checked out before 11:00 a.m, or 12p.m. with our "Early Check-in" option at Paris Nation, Paris Belleville, Paris Marais, Lille, Strasbourg, Marseilles, Les 2 Alpes and Le Havre. Is it possible to arrive at the hostel late at night?
Our reception is open 24 hours a day. You can arrive at any time, but please let us know if you are arriving really late at night, otherwise we might think that you are not coming after all.
Can I check-in early?
It is possible to book an early check-in to check in and access your room or bed earlier. Early check-in is available as an option at the time of booking.

What time can I check in? If I arrive earlier, can you look after my suitcase?
Check in from 3p.m., or 12p.m. with our "Early Check-in" option.
Check out from 11a.m., or 1p.m. with our "Late Check-out" option.

What payment methods do you accept?
Payment is made by credit card. Proof of identity may be requested upon arrival at the hostel.
How have The People’s hostels changed the youth hostel experience?
Our hostels are hybrids between youth hostels and boutique hotels, with a few (or many!) extras. We’ve chosen our locations to be closer to neighbourhood life. We offer an array of services and living spaces for all of our guests, such as a “chill-out” room, a bar, a restaurant (depending on the hostel), co-working areas and sometimes a kitchen. You can also choose a private or shared room (a modern take on a dormitory) depending on whether you’re alone, with friends, or part of a group.
STAY
Are minors allowed to stay in The People hostels?
Minors under 18 are welcome in our hostels but are not allowed in shared rooms. If you are a minor, you must be accompanied by an adult and you must stay in a private room.
Can I bring my kids?
Of course, all tribes are welcome. To be safe with your family, we recommend that you book a private family room or a shared room (dormitory type) in full.
Can I bring alcohol into the hostel room? Or have a small glass of alcohol before going out?
The consumption of alcohol is not allowed in private or shared rooms. It is also forbidden to bring alcohol from outside. But if it makes you feel better, all our hostels have a bar open 7 days a week with the best selection of local beers and other specialty cocktails.
Is breakfast included in the price of the room?
It all depends on which rate you’ve booked; some rates do include breakfast. Otherwise, you can make breakfast reservations upon arrival. Don’t hesitate to ask your hostel for information via its website or using the contact info at: thepeoplehostel.com/contact
Is it safe to leave my belongings in the room?
Each room contains one secure locker per person to store your valuable possessions, such as laptop computers. Bring your own padlock with you or buy one at the reception desk.
Is housekeeping included?
Housekeeping is included and done daily in both private and shared rooms.
Are sheets and towels provided?
We supply sheets for all our room types. However, towels are only supplied for private and family rooms. If you stay in a dormitory, remember to bring your own towel, or if you forget, you can hire one at the reception desk.
Will I have to sleep in a large dormitory?
Private rooms (like in a hotel), loft or shared dormitories from 4 to 10 people, we have thought of all the different ways to stay. You're bound to find the right combo. Don't hesitate to ask for information on the dedicated page of your hostel.
Are the dormitories mixed gender?
Our hostel dormitories are generally mixed, but some are exclusively reserved for women.
RESTAURANT- BAR
Can I reserve the bar or part of the bar for a private event?

Do you have co-working spaces in your bars or restaurants?
You are welcome to work from our hostels. We don’t always have specific areas for working in the bars and restaurants so we can’t guarantee you 100% peace and quiet, but we can guarantee you the best coffee in town and a delicious snack to get you through your workday.
Where can I make a reservation for one of The People restaurants?
We don't take reservations for the bars and restaurants in our hostels, we prefer to tell you to come by whenever you want.
Can I use the bar or the restaurant without booking a room at the hostel?
All our hostels have a bar and restaurant which is open to everyone, whether or not you’re staying overnight with us. We want you to feel like a local, so we’d be delighted to see you socialising with local residents. Can I bring my own food to eat in the hostel?
Shared kitchens are available in some of our hostels so you can bring your own food and cook yourself a nice meal. You’ll also have the chance to try the local cuisine and neighbourhood restaurants.
Is cleaning and washing up included in the shared kitchen?
Cleaning is done every day in the private and shared rooms and in the common areas. All we ask is that you clean the shared kitchen and the utensils you use after each use.
What if I prefer to cook?
No problem! Common kitchens are available in some of our hostels, fully equipped and with dishes. Otherwise, our bar offers a snack menu available all day long.

Each of our events highlights the neighbourhood. For example, we invite local artists to play or local associations to meet on our premises. What are your capacities?
Our hostels can accommodate up to 200 people per event, regardless of the location. Whether it's a seminar in the mountains or a school trip in the middle of the city, write to us and we'll find the best solution for you.
Do you have meeting rooms in your hostels?
Nearly all of our hostels contain a reception room that can be adapted to your needs, for a company presentation, a meeting, or an after-work event. We share your love for working hard, but we prefer to do it in the coolest place possible.
What meal options do you have for groups?
We can suggest a tailored option to suit your needs for any group event. From breakfast to lunch to dinner, we’re here to provide options that all your guests will enjoy. Contact us and we’ll make your event a success.
